Salvador Perez Expected To Have Tommy John Surgery, Out For Season

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez will reportedly not play this season.

Jon Heyman of the MLB Network broke the news last night, reporting that Perez is expected to undergo Tommy John surgery next week and will return for he 2020 season.

The surgery will be done to repair the ulnar collateral ligament to Perez’s right elbow.

Perez, 28, was scratched from Thursday’s spring training game with what was believed to be a minor right elbow injury. However, an MRI revealed the damage was serious enough to warrant surgery.
