The Los Angeles Lakers have not held internal discussions about firing head coach Luke Walton following Tuesday night’s loss to the Atlanta Hawks, according to Broderick Turn of the Los Angeles Times.
Sources informed The LA Times that despite the loss, Walton will “definitely” finish the season as head coach and has the full support of the Lakers’ front office.
Further, Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, president of basketball operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka are all on the same page regarding Walton being the coach for the rest of the season. Buss wants to give Walton every opportunity to succeed.
The Lakers lost 117 to 113 to the Hawks last night and are currently 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 28-29. They’ve only won three of their last 10 games.
