Pelicans Will Allow Anthony Davis To Play, Expected To Return Friday

The New Orleans Pelicans will allow center Anthony Davis back into the lineup for the rest of the season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Woj reports the team considered the possibility of shutting Davis down for the rest of the season to prevent him from getting injured and losing value on the trade market. The league office had concerns about the Pelicans forcing a healthy player to sit out the rest of the season. Davis has said he wants to play.

Davis has been dealing with an injury to his left index finger that has kept him out since the latter part of January. During his absence, he informed the Pelicans he does not intend to sign a long-term extension with them and would like to be traded. However, as previously reported, he was not moved prior to Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.

Expect Davis to return to the Pelicans starting lineup Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
