Cowboys Tag DeMarcus Lawrence But He Won’t Sign It Or Show Up

The Dallas Cowboys are placing the franchise tag on defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, as first reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network and later confirmed by the team.

The tag, which would be his second in as many seasons, would pay Lawrence $20.5 million next season. However, Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Lawrence will not sign the tag nor will he show up without a long-term contract.

Lawrence and the Cowboys have until July 15 to agree to a long-term contract extension.

Lawrence has proved he’s an elite NFL defender but this has the makings of a long-term standoff between him and the Cowboys.
