Carlos Martinez Spotted In Sling With Injury To Throwing Shoulder

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez has been spotted with his right arm in a sling, according to Mark Saxton of The Athletic.

Saxon reports Martinez had a platelet-rich plasma injection and his rehab has been slowed by another week at least. He’s scheduled to be re-evaluated on March 12.

The original injury, thought to be a minor right shoulder problem, first came to light on February 19 when the Cardinals announce he would be on a no-throw regimen for two weeks due to concerns about the strength of his throwing shoulder.

On Monday, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Martinez was absent from camp in order to get a second opinion on his right shoulder.
