Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal admitted to reporters he was actively recruiting players to join him in D.C. over NBA All-Star Weekend in Charlotte.
Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington reports that Beal said he couldn’t name names but that he was actively recruiting. Some guys even came up to him and asked.
With Wall expected to miss a large chunk of next season after tearing his Achilles at home following season-ending heel surgery, the Wizards will be led by Beal for the foreseeable future.
The problem for both Beal and the Wizards is they are going to be significantly over the salary cap so bringing in a third All-Star on a max-level deal is unrealistic. What’s worse is they do not have the assets to trade for a star either.
Beal’s Wizards are in 11th place in the NBA Eastern Conference with a record of 24-34, comfortably outside of Playoff contention.
