Bob Stoops Announced As First XFL Coach/GM For Dallas

Former Oklahoma Sooners head football coach Bob Stoops will serve as the head coach and general manager of the new XFL team in Dallas.

The announcement was made Thursday at a press event at the new Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas by XFL commissioner and CEO Oliver Luck. Stoops, who coached the Sooners from 1996-2016 and won a national championship and ten Big 12 conference titles, is the first coach/general manager to be announced.

The XFL, which is being funded by Vince McMahon of WWE, will return on February 8, 2020. Eight teams have been announced and include clubs for Dallas, New York, Houston, Los Angeles, Seattle, Tampa Bay, St. Louis and Washington, D.C. All coaches will serve as general managers for their teams.

A television deal has yet to be secured as the first incarnation of the league was in conjunction with NBC Sports.
