Anthony Davis Booed In New Orleans, Benched For Fourth Quarter

New Orleans Pelicans fans aren’t happy with center Anthony Davis.

Davis returned to the floor last night in the first time in nearly a month in a home Pelicans game against the Minnesota Timberwolves following a finger injury and his request to be traded. Here’s how fans responded to his introduction:

Davis clearly doesn’t want to be in New Orleans but the team failed to move him prior to Thursday’s NBA trade deadline. There was talk about the Pelicans choosing to shut Davis down for the remainder of the season to prevent from damaging his trade value, however, Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported the NBA would fine the Pelicans $100,000 for each game they sat a healthy Davis.

Fans at the Smoothie King Center booed Davis every time he touched the ball but cheered when he made a basket. His effort on defense was questioned but he did sparkle with 32 points and nine rebounds in 24 minutes.

Davis was benched in the fourth quarter, failing to log a single minute despite the game being close. The Pelicans ended up beating the Timberwolves 122 to 117.
